Lionel Messi: “That was my last World Cup, I won’t go to the next one”

In a message to the Chinese media, Leo Messi announced that he did not plan to participate in the next World Cup, which will be held jointly between Canada, Mexico and the United States in 2026.

Leo Messi finally managed to secure the final trophy after winning the World Cup in Qatar in December with Argentina . The team beat France on penalties in a tense, action-packed final which saw French star Kylian Mbarre score a Hat-trick .

But having secured the last big value that had eluded him, the Argentina captain announced on Tuesday that he felt no need to try to win back the achievement at 2026.

When asked about a withdrawal by Chinese оᴜtlet ‘Tιtаn Sports’, he stated: “I don’t think so. This was my last World Cᴜr . I’ll see how things go, but in principle, no, I won’t go to the next World Cup ”.
